The Christmas Party on January 8th, 2002

Greetings from the Ukraine this New Year season!
We want to first tell you what we did for Christmas for the Cerebal Palsy children. A few of the street children
were invited and came to share also.
For you who are not familiar with the Ukraine, CHRISTmas is celebrated on the 7th of Jan. which is the Orthodox day to celebrate. We do not leave out Jesus Christ, but tell about Him and how He came to earth to
save us from our sins.
We had planned the gathering and prepared for a month. The building we used was donated by a businesswoman in the area, in the north part of the city of Kiev. We had packets of small gifts for each child. In each packet we put a set of clothing, a toy, Zest soap, tooth paste, candy, wash cloth, comb, multi vitamins, vitamin C, a bag of monster cookies, a bottle of Vicks and a bottle of body moisturizer.
To the parents that attended we gave a packet of Humanitarian Aid. This aid was partly provided by International Aid out of Michigan. Some of the other things were bought by the sponsors of our children.
We were able to give a little to eat to each person that attended. Juice that God provided from a local seller was a blessing. There were a lot of good comments on the program that was put on by Brother Vetalic and some of his young people. (Brother Vetalic is the young man who took the two local churces over that we started and was a Bible school student of ours.) At the first part of the program they used puppets to give a message of being kind one to another. Then the young people presented the Nativity story. This Nativity Bible story lasted about fifty-five minutes. After the Nativity play, they brought out a bear (see picture below) who explained in simple words what they had just seen - in other words, what the birth of Christ means to mankind.
Then there was an opportunity given for any one that would like to receive Jesus as their Savior. We were sad that no one wanted this wonderful experience, but God has His own way, and after the program several of the parents asked our worker (Brother Edic) if he would come to their home and talk about the play and Jesus Christ. This has encouraged us and we are praying that in the next week we will visit them and God will draw many of them to Himself.
There were two games for the kids and they went over real well. Carole had filled a jar with some very small candies and each child had a chance to guess how many were in the jar. We had a winner, Alex, but he was 700 short!
I (David) and Carole want to thank all of you who have been faithful in the year of 2001. It was though your generosity that we were able to have this time to bless the little ones that the Lord has placed into our hands.
We would encourage you to continue to give as this is the only way that we can keep going. About 50% of the sponsors have been able to keep up their faith commitment. If you can pray for this situation or give it will be a blessing to the work. We are praying that this new year many new prayer warriors and donors will be able to giving to this worthy cause and we will all see many come to Christ.
Thank You for any part that you have had in the ministry in Ukraine of Children or our support and this includes the translations, printing and other things that God has us doing. Let us work together for the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior that many souls will come to Him in the printed Word, the centers for health and whatever else God wants!
May the Lord bless you!

These children - Anton, Lena and Myacheslav - received their wheelchairs from their sponsors.
They came to the Christmas party. They and their families are so thankful to the people who help them!

These are parents and children who came to the Christmas party. Some came with their children in wheelchairs, and were quite interested.

Some of the parents and children at our Christmas party. From the looks on the faces, it seems as though some hearts are being touched!

This is a Dayana who is 3 years old {left side} and Alex, 14, on his grandmother's lap
{at the center} and Sasha - 13 years old {right side} who was involved in
the Christmas party. These are some of the cerebral palsy families that we work with.

This is our pastor Vetalic who spoke at the Christmas party.
He organized the play that the young people put on.

This is the Nativity play that was put on by the young people of one of the
"Anchored in Zion" churches.

The bear came out and explained in simple words what they had just seen - in other words, what the birth of Christ means to mankind.

These are some of our children - Sasha, Marina, Ruslan, Dayana, and Alex - with their parents at
the Christmas party. Thay are so thankful to the sponsors who help them!

This is Alex, who was the winner for
guessing the number of candies in the jar. For his effort he won the candy and five grevnah,
about 95 cents. Alex is 14 years old and is in the seventh grade.
He likes English and he is a very polite boy. Alex has cerebral palsy, is retarded, and has problems with his left lower side. He is sponsored by one of our donors in the US.
