On Eagles' Wings

The Cerebral Palsy ministry has come to us by God's divine plan.  In November 1999 we received a phone call.  The man had not been in contact with us for two years but had said,"Some day when I can, I will help you."  This fellow was checking to see if we needed some rooms in a school building.  Yes, we did! After we went to see the place we knew that there was lots of ministry we could do with these rooms.  Then the man spoke up and said, "The only thing I want you to do is let some people come to a room, one day a month."  This is when we became acquainted with a family who has two sets of twins and one child who has Cerebral Palsy.  Our hearts fell in love with this little girl and her sisters. We said yes to a room and then found there are 83 boys and girls who might not move well, but some are very intelligent.  We have a desire to help each one of these children.
Please remember, we are located in Ukraine and life is a little different here. In January 2000 the Pennsylvania, USA news reported that a mother and father there had come into a hospital to pick up their boy who has Cerebral Palsy.  This boy had been in the hospital for treatments off and on for the last ten years.  However, this time the parents came to the hospital, and they just walked off without the child.  They had left him where he would get good care but the Mom and Dad just walked off and left him.  They were taken to jail. America is a place where you can get help and where there are support groups.  These parents were physically tired of the work and responsibility.   I believe they still loved the child but were overwhelmed with everything.  Seven days a week and twenty-four hours daily caring for this boy was too much for them.
Let's think about Ukraine and the situations of some of the ones here.  These parents don't have the wheel chairs or cars to get their children to the hospital or anywhere else.  Most of these parents don't take them to church, as it isn't a place for babies or sick people.  Some children only have a Mom.  One child here lies in bed and can do nothing for herself.  Yet, every night the mother walks out and leaves the child alone while she goes to work.  If the little 4-year-old is hungry, she stays hungry.  If she is wet, she stays wet.  She can do nothing for herself, but the police do not call this child abandonment or abuse. At least the Mom can get her something to eat even though her mouth must be opened to feed her.  The electric bills and water and other things go unpaid but she is a mother who tries to take care of her child.
Let us share about the Ukraine children and diapers.  All children whether sick or well have workers or parents who learn to save on the disposable diapers.  These people take the wet or dirty diaper apart and somehow they reline it with something else.  I think the companies would be amazed that make them as to how many days a disposable diaper can be used.  I have a few tips for the companies how to prevent this but these people are just happy not to be washing diapers (rags) all the time.  And these disposables have only come onto the market in the last three years.   Most people can't afford them either.  I can only say, when I think of pulling these diapers apart is, "What a stinky situation!"  The pay checks are low and so this pulling of diapers apart and putting something else in is a blessing.
Another child about two years old has two older children in the family.  The mother left when this Cerebral Palsy baby was born and the daddy has done a marvelous job of taking care of this little family.  He is so excited to think that he will have a church to take these children to and he will be able to learn and grow in Jesus!  He loves the Lord but desires to know more of our Savior. But let us look a little closer at this family.  He can not go to work, as he must watch the children. He must depend on God for $1 a month to buy a bar of soap for the four bodies that need to be clean and a box of soap to wash their clothing.  He is a faithful father, with what he has.  God tells us to be faithful in the little things and he will make us to be faithful over much.  This father has asked us more than once, "Can I come to the church you will have here and bring my children?" He wants for himself to grow in Christ and his children also.
Many things could be said but I will push along with some great news. We have the rooms ready for us now in the building!   I will name some of the rooms: church office, business office, library, meeting rooms for Sunday church (Russian, Spanish and Ethiopian), teen meetings, Bible School classes, Bible Video School, Women's and Men's meetings, mid-week service, children's work.  AND then the Cerebral Palsy group will have a room but already with the 83 who have come to form a group it is not big enough.  It's OK, we can have them come at different times or different days.   This is the Lord's problem with giving a little room and He is faithful and we just have to be faithful with what He gives. We will put the needs for the Cerebral Palsy group here and let you see them and pray over them.
    1. Electric bill
    2. Water
    3. Phone
    4. Part or full time doctor
    5. The family who will take charge of meetings for this group
    6. A person to help with the paper work
    7.  Someone who has a vehicle to drive the children when needed to the dentist and other appointments.
The present cost for all this is roughly $500 monthly.  Where else can you invest in God's work and not only get 83 sick children but get at least 83 parents or more and sometimes families? Yes, you count this group and it is at least 166!  We encourage you that as soon as you can, help support this God-given challenge of just $1 a month for body soap and laundry soap.  This cost applies to the Cerebral Palsy children and it can also apply to the street children.  Thirty cents a day would help provide a loaf of bread too. You may know that we are feeding some of the street children one meal a day at $ .50 (fifty-cents) each.  There are 10 regular street children and we constantly invite more to come every day.  These children go into a restaurant and we have one child that leads or teaches the others to pray and thank God for the meal that you or someone is providing.  The lady at this restaurant cooks soup and bread and then meat, potatoes (or a staple of some kind), tea and a sweet roll. What kind of compassion do you wish to share with Anchored in Zion ministry in the many projects that we have? Our MOTTO is found in Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatever you hand finds to do, do it with your might...."
Please pray about what you will do:
    1. Support the needs of David and Carole (founders of Anchored in Zion ministries)
    2. Give ____________ to the food program for the street children
    3. Help pay _________ for the expense of the Cerebral Palsy children
    4. Monthly help with ___________ for literature (children / school and books)
    5. Monthly give _________ towards packing and shipping containers of food, medicine and clothing
