Carole's Latest Foot Updates!

November 15, 2000

HI,

Thank you all for you prayers..and here is an update.

I just came back from the dr this am.  He said it looked good but
we decided to leave the stiches in for another week.
I have the metal splint off and just have the foot with medication and and ace bandage wrapped around it.
I still can not put any weight on the foot and have to use the crutch and wheelchair.

I had two cuts this time.  The one is on the ankle and the other is right on
the bottom of the foot.  Dr. says, even if it feels good "baby" it because many people get in trouble after an operation by not staying slowed down.

So slow I will be.

Thursday evening Connie Sue, Trevor and I will start to head for the Atlanta airport.  Dave arrives Friday at 2:05 pm   WE are still praying that Wes will be able to go with us and drive in the night since Connie Sue has
work till late on Thur evening.

Thanks for praying,
In Christ,

Hello,

I came into the office with Connie Sue today and the reason...I am to far away
if something would have happened...
and it did...

I had the operation yesterday and it was much longer than the dr thought
again.  He did much more on the cut.
Dave called the recover room but they didn't let me talk.  Connie Sue had
gone back to work but she had come back and was able to talk to him..
So he got to the airport (JFK) and was ready to fly out.

I stayed in the hospital for the afternoon so (woops) she could go back
to work...she had stayed for the operation... I did OK..and she picked me
up when she got off work and then Trevor went home with Val from the office
and we had to go get him.

Trevor was a HAM.  When I used the walker to get down the hall way he
jumped behind me.  Then he got in from and jumped...you know I had the walker
and had to hop along on the left foot as I can't step on the right one for 2 weeks
and I changed my Nov. 20 appointment to 15th so I hope all is OK.

Anyhow...I had to put ice on the foot and I went to bed with an ice pack and
it didn't leak but it got my foot wet...at 3 A.M. I called Connie Sue and we
took the ice pack off and tried to wrap a dry towel around it to keep it dry
but it didn't dry.  When the dr called Connie Sue told him he said to come in
and the cast is not the regular....it was bandages around the wound and
then a cotton type up the leg and then a metal plate to hold the ankle and
foot in place and then wrapped again with a bandage.  WELL, the foam
rubber on the metal plate had absorbed the condensation from the ice bag
and it was wet.  So he didn't change the dressing but the nurse had to use
the hair dryer to dry the foam rubber and that took quite awhile so it must
have been pretty wet.

OK,  THANKS for praying!   Thanks to the Lord for His help and touch for
Dr. Neef's hand and mind.  He said there was lot of scar tissue and so it
took him much longer.

For the next 2 weeks I need to keep the foot up and on the computer it is
not up high enough so I had better plan to stop right now and get into the
wheel chair and get this thing up in the air.

I want to write a quick note and thank you for all your prayers. My

mom went to the hospital yesterday at 11:00 A.M. for surgery on her left

foot. By 1:00 P.M. they had her in the operating room.

Surgery was scheduled to take 1- 1/2 hours. One of the nurses was a

Christian lady from the CMA church. In fact she is my boss' wife. The

other

nurse was one of the day care parents, so mom was in good hands. I left to

pick up payroll and check on the day care.

When I returned she was still in surgery. Things were going well,

but

the nurse said Dr. Neff was slow but very meticulous. I was sure she was

doing well. They called me from the recovery room at 3:30 P.M. and said

she

would be returning to her room within a 1/2 hour.

Mom got back to her room at 4:05 P.M.. She has a spinal for the

operation and some valium. She woke up in the middle of the operation and

was telling stories to the doctor and nurses. :) That's mom for you...the

entertainer.

It took awhile for her to regain all the feeling back, but once she

got it she was fine. Since her right foot is in need of an operation as

well, she had a very difficult time with crutches. Praise the Lord for his

provision. I was able to stop on the way home and pick up a walker and bed

side commode.

We struggled getting up the two steps on the back porch. I finally

got a pillow and she crawled up. :) She has to keep the foot elevated for

two weeks. This includes riding in the car and eating at the dinner table.

She is not in a lot of pain. No pain killers yet. She took some

ibuprofen last night and this morning. The doctor gave her 98% that it was

a success. Now keep it up and dry. No weight bearing.

Thank you again for your prayers! God bless you!!

Connie Sue

Update from Carole (July, 2000)
The doctor, the anesthesiologist, and the hospital helped me financially with my right leg operation on June 22. We thank the Lord for His provisions in this time of need. A big THANK YOU JESUS!
They have said they don't know if they can help with the second leg...but we will see what God says at the time. We still believe in healing from the stripes on Jesus' back before His death to be the healing power that will heal my other foot!

Thank You!!!

Praising God in all things! Surgery for Carole's left foot took two & 1/2 hours, instead of the hour planned. The foot must stayed raised until her next Dr. visit, on July 7th.  Let's pray that the cast will be removed then, and God's healing will have touched both feet.

1st Thessalonians 5:16-18  "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

The Dr. usually waits three (3) months before preforming a second operation, which Carole is in need of on her right foot.

We Thank God that His will and way are being accomplished in our lives.
